British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI）announced the winners of the 2021 BALI National Landscape Awards on this month. Everlasting Sunshine——Modern Translation of Regional Sun Worship and Oriental Traditional Courtyard from WEME company won 2021 BALI National Landscape Awards
WEME presented the work ‘Everlasting Sunshine——Modern Translation of Regional Sun Worship and Oriental Traditional Courtyard ’was stand out from global competitors, and won the 2021 BALI National Landscape Awards.
The project was located in Rizhao City, Shandong Province, China, and is in the core area of future new city development. The designer interprets the cultural connotation of the sunrise in Rizhao city from the culture, and echoes it in the design concept, positioning it as a modern translation of Chinese traditional garden courtyards and a design work that reflects the current sun totem culture. Through the interpretation of traditional garden art, the design adopts the traditional Chinese ‘three rows of buildings on one axis’ courtyard layout. The overall level embodies the five levels of natural landscape culture, regional solar culture, spatial layout, landscape elements, and plant planting. In this project, the sun round gate and mountain form reflects the beauty of the sunrise. The people of Rizhao are diligent and stress that the sun is shining not to miss the opportunity. People rely not only on the sun in the sky, but also on the sun in their hearts——life is a pure flame, and we live by the sun that we can't see in our hearts.
